  • Round 3 results

Many thanks once again to everyone who took the trouble to vote in the third round.

Here are the results of Round 3:

The English Assassin (14) vs The Dreamthief's Daughter (16)
The Condition of Muzak (9) vs The Swords of Corum (16)
The War Hound and the World's Pain (20) vs The Dragon in the Sword (8)
The Dancers at the End of Time (17) vs Stormbringer (14)
The Eternal Champion (7) vs The Warlord of the Air (21)
Behold the Man (15) vs Gloriana; or, The Unfulfill'd Queen (15)
The Chronicles of Corum (19) vs The Lives and Times of Jerry Cornelius (9)
Mother London (17) vs The Final Programme (8)

Rather surprisingly - and disappointingly if I'm honest - Jerry Cornelius is toast! He went in with three very strong titles but sadly they weren't good enough to survive the overwhelming tsunami of fantasy lovers. So, it's over for another year for the English Assassin, but the thing about Jerry is it's hard to keep a good man and he'll be back next year to try and improve on his placings.

Elsewhere, Bastable and Von Bek continued to be ever popular choices, finishing 1st and 2nd in the voting tallies respectively this round.

We've had our first tie result this round, with both Behold the Man and Gloriana securing 15 votes apiece. This means that we are running a 24 hour 'sudden death' poll to decide the winner. I won't be voting unless the result is still a tie when the poll closes, in which I will cast a deciding vote.

Once the winner of the sudden death poll has been determine I will post the pairings for the Quarter Final. Due to the diminished pool, this will be a three day poll only, starting Midnight(-ish) on Monday 30th, with a view to running the Semi-Final polls over the first weekend of June.

_He was supremely powerful. He told planets to destroy themselves, and they did. He created suns. Beautiful women flocked to be his. Of all men, he was the mightiest. Of all gods, he was the greatest."

I'm very disappointed. If even half the people who voted for Jerry in Round 1 had voted for him in Round 3 he'd have made it through to the QFs; but votes are down across the board it seems (only one title gained more than 20 votes this round whereas in Round 1 there were twenty-six with several in the 30s). Can voter apathy have settled in already?

I really wanted to vote for The English Asassin, but did not think that would be fair as I had not read The Dream Thief's Daughter...
