Does it follow that I reject all authority? Perish the thought. In the matter of boots, I defer to the authority of the boot-maker.

And a real humdinger of a first round it was, what with two of last years semi-finalists taking an early bath!

    Well done Groakes!!

What a lot of people voted for match 32. I guess that's because it's on the front page of the site.

FWIW, 16 'guests' - i.e. anonymous visitors - voted for The Revenge of the Rose in Match 32 compared to 6 'guest votes' for An Alien Heat. That may simply indicate that casual visitors are more likely to be Elric fans than End of Time fans.

However, even eliminating the guest votes, AAH still won resoundingly among the registered membership with 38 votes to 25.
_"For an eternity Allard was alone in an icy limbo where all the colours were bright and sharp and comfortless.
_For another eternity Allard swam through seas without end, all green and cool and deep, where distorted creatures drifted, sometimes attacking him.
_And then, at last, he had reached the real world – the world he had created, where he was God and could create or destroy whatever he wished.
_He was supremely powerful. He told planets to destroy themselves, and they did. He created suns. Beautiful women flocked to be his. Of all men, he was the mightiest. Of all gods, he was the greatest."

Last year I was SO disappointed at the resounding pummeling that Bastable took. Glad to see that ALL 3 of his books made it to round 2. Also glad that her majesty is still in there... that would have been embarassing if our reigning queen got knocked out first round.

Oh! I didn't realise there was more, I only saw the one on the front page.
