This wasn't on NWF, but 'twas meant to be. Learned this off of the Griffin CD of 'Warrior on the Edge of Time,' which is flat( they were tuned half-step down in those days, I've heard)

    INTRO:

    -[Ab}---------------------[Db]------------------------------------

Ab (&2&3&4&1&2&3&4&) Gb (&2&3&4&) Ab (&2&3&4&) repeat then:
    (chorus)

    [break] (repeat 6x)
    Ab Gb Ab

    -----3--6---6-|-----------|------------|---------------------------|
    ---------------|-----------|-------------|--------------------------|
    4/5\4-strike 4(B), bend to 5(C), release to 4(B)

    (chorus)

[Bb]We guarantee get the[B] sweetest ride![Bb]Go so far you’ll[B] think you died!
[Bb]Step this way lads, it [B]ain’t no lie, [Bb]try your luck and[B] reach the sky!

    Deepfixer,
Can you please explain this notation

    chorus) then

    Ab (&2&3&4&1&2&3&4&) Gb (&2&3&4&) Ab (&2&3&4&)
    [break] (repeat 6x)
    Ab Gb Ab
    ---------------|-----------|------------|---------------------------|

    -----------3---|--3-6--6--|------------|--6---------------6--6---|
    -----3--6---6-|-----------|------------|---------------------------|
    ---------------|-----------|-------------|--------------------------|
    4/5\4-strike 4(B), bend to 5(C), release to 4(B)

Garrrhhh! I forgot to correct that when I posted!
Do the chorus ('Kings of Speed . . .etc) then into the instrumental break, which is the same as the chorus, except you repeat it six times.

The Ab(2&3&4& . . .etc.) is the rhythm, in eighth notes (1&2&3&[1 bar]&1&2&3&[2 bars] etc.

the lines and numbers are TAB (well, sort of!):
        --------------------------6----- first string, sixth fret
        -----------------------5------- second ", fifth "
        -----------------4------------- third ", fourth "
        ------------3------------------ fourth ", third "
        --------2---------------------- fifth ", second "
        -----1------------------------ sixth ", first "

if two (or more) numbers are stacked, it's a chord. if they're in a line (as in my post), play them as single notes (C-Eb-F-Eb, F-Ab-Bb-Ab, C-C-C-Bb
        Ab-Bb-B/C\B-Bb-Ab-Ab)

Yes, I know 'Assault & Battery/Golden Void,' but, to save room, I will direct you here:
        http://www.starfarer.net/ Stafarer's Hawkwind Page.

From Home, click on 'Resources' and on the right side of that page is 'Hawkwind Tab,' in three parts (divided by year), and also a Bass Tab page. I've contributed several songs to this site (don't recall if these two were among them), and they're all accurate. Of couse, all of the 'Nik-era' stuff (up through '76) was done half-step down, and Starfarer has posted them as being in standard tuning, but he explains this at the beginning of each tab page.

Didn't recall that Starfarer was mentioned in that thread.

Oh, well, a good site is worth mentioning several times! :D

That was what the "sorry" was for. "Unpishing" didn't work, so we got the bbq out and started again.

Well, if first you don't succeed, start drinking again!

The main reason I mentioned Starfarer was because I didn't want to write out A&B/GV. I about went crazy(further) doing 'Kings of Speed.'

Golden Void is just so good. Almost makes me want to weep when I hear it, it's so simple but awesomely epic. :D :D :D

That's one of the things I like about Hawkwind's and Mr. M's songs: they're simple.

No $10 chords(dim, aug, min6-dim9-#11, etc.), even though they have their place in rock 'n' roll too.

Like another Brock/Moorcock song, 'Choose You Masques.' Only two chords, Em and G, endlessly repeated . . .

But, again, all's fair in rock 'n' roll!

I owe just about all of my cover songs to the Starfarer... but the tabs do require you to come up with the intro yourself, for some songs.
