  • Title of the Elric movie ?

What do you think the title of the first Elric movie should be?
(Note: the movie will mostly coincide with book 1: Elric of Menibone.)

I don't know if the obvious, like...

    The Elric Saga: Part I

    or Elric of Melnibone

are the best titles if the strategy is for it to
be a "mass appeal" type of movie.

    Planet of the Melniboneans

    Elric Bigalow: Male Albino

    Chaos Strikes Back

    Raiders of The Lost City

The Gangs of Nadsokor City of the Beggars

    Son of Pyaraytanic

    The Sorcerer of Oz

    Dark Dark City
The cat spread its wings and flew high into the air, hovering to keep pace with them as they moved cautiously toward the city. Then, as they climbed over the rubble of what had once been a gateway and began to make their way through piles of weed-grown masonry, the cat flew to the squat building with the yellow dome upon its roof. It flew twice around the dome and then came back to settle on Jhary's shoulder. - The King of the Swords

How about "Adventures Of An Angry Albino And his Big Bad Black Blade"?.... Nah, think Big Arnie would probably play Elric if that was the title....mmmm...just imagine..."ALBI-NO BACK!"

          My current thoughts are:

          1) Elric of Melnibone (subtitled Elric Saga Pt 1)
          2) Weird of the White Wolf or Sailor on the Seas of Fate, (subtitled Elric Saga Pt 2)
          3) Stormbringer (subtitled Elric Saga Pt 3)

I'm hoping for Weird of the White Wolf the 2nd movie because 'weird' is such a great word. Anyone remember a Clark Ashton Smith tale called 'The Weird of Avoosle Wuthoquan'? (can't guarantee I've spelled that right  ).

          weird
adj 1: suggesting the operation of supernatural influences; "an
          eldritch screech"; "the three weird sisters";
"stumps...had uncanny shapes as of monstrous
creatures"- John Galsworthy; "an unearthly light"; "he
could hear the unearthly scream of some curlew
piercing the din"- Henry Kingsley [syn: eldritch, uncanny,
          unearthly]
          2: strikingly odd or unusual; "some trick of the moonlight;
some weird effect of shadow"- Bram Stoker
n : Fate personified; one of the Three Weird Sisters [syn: Wyrd,
          Weird]

I like: The Elric Sage Part I: Eleric of Melnibone. I think it adds a certain epic feel to it which it most certainly deserves. Can you imagine people's faces that have never read the book as they see the end of Strormbringer

The Elric Saga, Episode I: The Albino Menace

              kidding! only kidding!

Honestly, though, I'm with ghost on this one..."Elric Saga, Part I: Elric of Melnibonأ©" or perhaps even "Elric Saga, Part I: The Dreaming City"

Yes, yes, I know, "Dreaming City" is is part of "Weird of the White Wolf" but I think it would word well for the first part as you get to actually spend some time in Imryrr.

Well I question having the word "Melnibonأ©" in the title
at all. As we all should know,
a lot of people aren't "the brightest flowers in the garden" so to speak.
The reaction will be "Elric of wha? Mel-ni-bone? What's that? ?!?
To be honest, until I heard the audio-file of Mike reading
excerpts, I didn't know the correct pronunciation.

I used to play in a band called Estabrook's Hurt (name came from Barker's "Imajica")
and people had a rough time with that one.
                  "Estawhat? Huh?"

Is that Depeche as in dee-pe-shhh or dep-ish?

                      My suggestions are:

"Don't Fall On That Sword, Missus!"

                      "Confessions of an Anaemic"
                      "Faster Elric, Kill, Kill!!!"
                      "Kissin' Kousins" (aka "Killin' Kousins")

                      "Nightmares of the Dreaming City"

                      "Just Say Albi-NO"

"You Only Live... Because Your Hell-Blade Channels the Souls of Dead Warriors Into Your Weak, Weak Body"

                      Er... or something like that...

                      D...

                            Names...

                            Why not something simplier?

If I remember correctly Mike named one of the shorter paperback elric books this "Weird of the White Wolf." I always liked that.

                            Or there are:

                            Stormbringer
Elric: Song of the Black Sword
                            Elric: Prince of Ruins
                            Elric: The White Wolf

Or there is always the riviting: "Elric: The Movie, The Anti-LOTR"

                            Thanos

I always liked Mike's title Stealer of Souls he gave to his early Elric story.
When they had advanced together to meet on common
ground, then there was the clash of shields, of spears
and the fury of men cased in bronze; bossed shields met
each other and the din rose loud. Then there were
mingled the groaning and the crowing of men killed and
killing, and the ground ran with blood.

                              Homer, The Illiad
