Does it follow that I reject all authority? Perish the thought. In the matter of boots, I defer to the authority of the boot-maker.

an orchestral score with heavy rock songs??
Hey all. This film (if it ever gets made) needs to have an orchestral score. There is no doubt about that. Basil Poledouris (Conan the Barbarian) would have made a great score if he had not passed on last year. Elliot Goldenthal (Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and Alien 3) may do a decent score, but alot of his scores are hit or miss. I think Marco Beltrami (Blade 2, Hellboy) would be a great composer for this score. But I'm thinking it would also be great to have some heavier type music mixed in. This was done to great effect in both Blade II and The Matrix. I can picture some nice heavy music when Elric draws Stormbringer and goes on a bloodletting spree! LOL! We don't want John Williams, or Howard Shore. We don't want to pull a 2001 and use any classic composer music. Listening to Ride of the Valkyries when Elric hops on a dragon would NOT be a way to go!
These are only ideas of course. The look of film may suggest other music. But definitely not 'classic' rock! I can't imagine Elric sitting on his throne while the court band is playing rock songs. For the love of anything, we do not want that! I figure the music is gonna make or break this movie.
So that's about it. eyebone says C-YA!

As for the people who are voting for more of a "rock" edge you can listen to Clint's score on the "PI" soundtrack. You Brits may remember him from the band "Pop Will Eat Itself" back in the late 80s early 90s. He also did a good job of remixing some Trent Reznor stuff for the "DOOM" soundtrack.

I think the following pieces have a dark quality about them that would be fitting for the Elric movie:

The last part of this track would be perfect for the teaser IMO:

As far as rock/metal goes, I can imagine a less dated version of something like this (in the credits):

The lyrics certainly fit Elric:
I am a king of honor
gold and glory
but every king must also die
have I been just and righteous
what is glory
I know I've torn and taken life
and here I stand
a small and simple man
Who will trade his karma for my kingdom
a sacrificial rite to render truth
the fire in my soul rejects my wisdom
cause all you do in life comes back to you
I am a king in crisis
counting minutes
there is an ending to my reign
my sins have come to face me
I can feel it
that I have lived my life in vain
and now I know I'll reap
the seeds I've sown
Who will trade his karma for my kingdom
a sacrificial rite to render truth
the fire in my soul rejects my wisdom
cause all you do in life comes back to you
Am I mad
I feel so void and cold
who can tell
who holds the stories untold
tired and trembling
I am descending
will I have to stay here
and live this life again
and here is Stormbringer's theme if ever I heard one:
http://www.aimelek.com/locker/mephisto.mp3
You know just who I am
Don't be so distant
Cause when you're lost
I am solely there to share your grief
Wailing for your sorrow
Is only my way to comfort you
Reminders of innocent youth
Waiting for morrow you're lonely
I name your solitude
I speaketh the truth
Now tell me all about your pain
Down to the details
Don't say it's love
Your fragile heart feeds my contempt
Wailing for your sorrow
Is only my way to comfort you
Reminders of innocent youth
Waiting for morrow you're lonely
I name your solitude
I speaketh the truth
Chase the heathen call
We belong... you and I
Unison in all you deny
I am the thorn in your side
That seeks accomplishment
Reminding the mortal of death
I am the spore of your pride
An angel heaven sent
The master of all
I am the urge of the fleshLast edited by Athenys; 04-27-2007, 03:34 PM.
