Dangerous Visions and New Worlds with Andrew Nette - PM Press

    Interview, PM Press Blog
Dangerous Visions and New Worlds with Andrew Nette

    Breakfast in the RUINS

Andrew Nette, journalist, writer and lover of all things pulp, joins me in Derry and Toms to talk about his new book Dangerous Visions and New Worlds Radical Science Fiction, 1950 to 1985 . In this deep dive into the progressive, sexy explosion of challenging stories we wander off on various tangents including an Australian viewpoint on pulp and genre fiction, the wonders of the publisher NEL (New English Library), Jon Pertwee Doctor Who (again), long dead bus drivers and Rollerball!

Ah, how much i would have liked to have attended this event Allan.

However, in these strange and difficult times of the Covid pandemic just getting into Melbourne would be a bit like West Berlin in the late 1960's - crossing through Checkpoint Charlie into East Germany!
🙄...and getting back home to Queensland might prove to be problematic given the possibility of fresh shut downs in most State borders. Besides all that, the police in Victoria are all uniformed in black these days and they take a dim view of casual pedestrians...

Anyway, thanks for all of your interesting information on my favorite literary genre, which is of course speculative fiction.

Breakfast in the Ruins, is a great Mike orientated blog & podcast site. Haven't visited for a while, but I'll be listening to this one!

I'm going to get a copy of this one. I really want to read it & N°1 son, is finishing his degree and really getting back into reading & SF at the moment, this looks to cover just the sort of area that he's interested in. The Senior Partner (She Who Must Be Obeyed), insists that I order books from the local bookshop rather than online. So, I'll just have to cool my jets.
