  • One Mama, No Papa's

Denny Doherty, one-quarter of the 1960s folk-rock group the Mamas and the Papas, known for their soaring harmony on hits like "California Dreamin' " and "Monday, Monday," died Friday at 66.

That would leave Michelle Phillips as the only surviving member of the band. The Mama's and Papa's made beautiful music together with vocals that still haven't been matched to this day. It's almost like an entire era is decaying and crumbling before our very eyes.

I did a little California Dreamin today while standing in a blizzard.
