  • I had a very bad experience with scrumpy, in North Oxfordshire, many years ago and I've been pubs, in the Cotswolds, where they'd only sell the local stuff, by the half pint.

So, two half pints of whatever the Governor's having, please!

    • No problem pietro but i must warn you that Gov has a tolerance for the stuff so if i could just get you to sign this disclaimer form here......
      and here......

              • I tried some, Mongozo Palm Nut Beer, last night. I can recommend it. It's quite strong, at 7% proof and tastes a bit like a smooth, trappist, or abdij, beer.

Possibly to be found at a Fair Trade shop, near you.

                Mongozo palm beers, all round!

Sounds good Pietro,i'll have one to be going on with.
Better have a few Glenlivets to wash it down with though.

                  • Tonight, I have been mostly drinking Orval (Belgian Trappist) and Leffe (Belgian Abdij) Beer! But, what I wouldn't give, for an oaken barrel of Samuel Smiths' bitter, a porcelain handled hand pump and an oaken panelled bar, lit by the soft glow of gas light, to serve it in!

                    • Absolutely Pietro!!
Brass pipes mind, none of yer copper stuff here
On the bottle front,i think a few Fowlers 'wee heavies' are called for.
Smooth - but with a kick bordering on the synaptic!
                      Cheers

Inspired by Kyrinn to listen to some good, religious music...hhhhmmmm... Dead Can Dance - How Fortunate the Man with None

                              You saw sagacious Solomon
You know what came of him,
                              To him complexities seemed plain.
He cursed the hour that gave birth to him
And saw that everything was vain.
How great and wise was Solomon.
The world however did not wait
But soon observed what followed on.
It's wisdom that had brought him to this state.

                              You saw courageous Caesar next
                              You know what he became.
They deified him in his life
Then had him murdered just the same.
And as they raised the fatal knife
How loud he cried: you too my son!
The world however did not wait
But soon observed what followed on.

                              You heard of honest Socrates
                              The man who never lied:
They weren't so grateful as you'd think
Instead the rulers fixed to have him tried
And handed him the poisoned drink.
How honest was the people's noble son.

Here you can see respectable folk
                              Keeping to God's own laws.
So far he hasn't taken heed.
You who sit safe and warm indoors
Help to relieve our bitter need.
                              How virtuously we had begun.
