Anyone around for a swift Friday lunchtime (GMT) half?
If we're propping up the bar and talking toot.... In another bit of pub-related trivia, the nearest drinkarium to where I'm currently working (The Dolphin, Red Lion St, London WC1) was bombed by a Zeppelin in 1915. The clock on the wall in the pub was recovered from the wreckage, and is still stopped at the time of the attack.
It's hard to imagine how terrifying the prospect of air raids must have been at the time. This page includes a link to a map showing the route of all the Zeppelin air raids between 1915 and 1917
