You all need to see the movie "OutFoxed." It's all about how the Fox T.V. station is run by the republicans and that is why we don't get valuable information about wtf is really going on in the USA.
For everyone that doesn't think there is censorship wisen up it's rampent as all hell in the good USA. When you have to read news from another country to find out what's going on in your own country that is truely wrong.
I guess you have to hunt for the truth when it comes to knowing what is really going on in the USA. because are t.v station's will not cover it for fear that the greed money from different special interest groups don't want you to see. Open your eyes and see what is really going on in your country you might benifit from it!

Luckily the British press isn't so coy about the name: http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/...053901,00.html

Sometimes the truth is ugly. Sometimes turd blossoms aren't.

But newspapers tend to be more conservative (apolitically) about language use and content than other media. There were a few Calvin and Hobbes cartoons a few years ago that many papers wouldn't run simply because boogers or vomit were mentioned.

I would agree that "spin", or media management, has always been an integral part of politics, but that doesn't mean that some of us can't still
cross our fingers and wish for politicians who avoid crapping where they eat in the first place... rather than just letting the waste fall where it may and trying to cover the stink.
Is "turd" an especially rude word in the States? I've noticed that the national radio stations in this country can play songs containing the word "shit" at pretty much any hour of the day.... but the DJs aren't allowed to use the word in their links! Very strange.

'"Turd Blossom," a Texan term for a flower which grows from a pile of cow dung.'

Intelligent people have recognized the correct implication given the political context.
Also, one other minor point I meant to make earlier and forgot: I highly doubt that the banning of that Doonesbury strip has to do with any sort of conservative bias in the media; more likely, most newspapers simply don't want the word "turd" printed in their publication.
Yeah, you're right. Turd Blossom is just too much to see in print. And god forbid we talk about it in a forum on The Internets.

Well, what do you think this charming nickname means? Give me a positive explanation I can logically appreciate.

Just to throw in my relatively unimportant two cents-
The name isn't just a harmless nickname. Forgetting its implications, which have proven to be pretty valid, the name strikes me as an indicator of the locker room mentality that seems to prevail in this administration.
I remember when Bush called Vladimir Putin "Pootey-Poo." I expected him to flip him with a towel right after he did it.

I first read of this nickname employed by Bush back in 2001. I thought it was common knowledge. It gave me a laugh when I first learned of it several years ago, but it's hardly sparkling wit. Given the qualities of the person who supposedly coined it, that's not what one expects, of course.
