  • Kitsune's off-topic nonsense and Berry's response

If you actually pull yourself back and look at the boards with an unbiased eye you might be surprised. There's a post on here right now that's nothing but a personal attack on myself and Bill because our points of view differ from the majority of the board. Yet on this post Berry is curiously silent. I ignored the post, because I saw it as flamebait, but Bill responded to it.
Then there's the use of "anti progressive," which is basically just a way to bash people you disagree with without actually making an argument. In short it's an effort to incorporate name calling into the language. It may slip under the radar, but it's still name calling, every bit as bad as people go around calling socialists "commies."
When you engage in a intelligent debate over an issue, you may not convince the other guy of anything, but that's ok, because debate forces you to reevaluate your own positions and think about why you hold the view you do, and ideally you wind up better for it. In that sense, Bill's leaving is going to be loss for the board, as he's a far better debater than I am.

Yeah. I don't read all the threads on the website.

Furthermore, what would I say? "Please don't tell my visitors to fuck off?" Then what? Would someone then tell me they aren't my visitors? Isn't it possible I didn't respond because I thought it was flamebait? You should consider keeping yourself outta people's faces too. The best you can do is parrot Bill.

The cat spread its wings and flew high into the air, hovering to keep pace with them as they moved cautiously toward the city. Then, as they climbed over the rubble of what had once been a gateway and began to make their way through piles of weed-grown masonry, the cat flew to the squat building with the yellow dome upon its roof. It flew twice around the dome and then came back to settle on Jhary's shoulder. - The King of the Swords

That was fast. Heh, I edited my post before you posted this one. :-)

I don't know who's to blame, as I haven't been following too closely. However, I have always been of the opinion that when someone starts to get personal, it means they're losing the argument. So - why not just admit it?

Hey, wasn't it Jambalaya and something with fishpie on the Bayou?

And "Milord" was a song by Edith Piaf, that's for sure.

Probably right. We politics get too personal it's probably time ot change the subject..

I'll try todo do a better job of practicing what I preach in the future.

                    I dunno, Etranger.

I'd like to add When the Saints Go Marching In to the song list!

How about Marilyn Manson "Fight Song" ??

Oh crap! I can see that a weekly sing along will probably end up in argument also!!!

                    Fight Song

                    Nothing suffocates you more than
the passion of everyday human events
and isolation is the oxygen mask
you make your children breath in to survive

and I'm not a slave to a god that doesn't exist
and I'm not a slave to a world that doesn't give a shit
