Not to mention Terry Gilliam's film Brazil.

And it's a nice bit of work. Do like.

E.M. Forester has a story called "The Machine Stops" that is a classic on this theme.
    Damn! Forgot Brazil!

Pretty good! Robert Calvert also picked up this theme; check out "Freq". :)

Poem: Lost Soul in the City of the Machine

Here's a new poem. I guess you can say it was inspired by Pink Floyd's Welcome to the Machine and Fritz Lang's Metropolis. Hope you like

    City of the Machine

I am the lost soul in the city of the machine,
I feel that I the only man here to dream
To dream of a life outside the machine
    To dream of freedom

I am the lost soul in the city of the machine
The rebellious cog, the flawed element
They make me run to the beat of the machine’s heart
I try and run to my own beat
Yet I know I will be beaten for it

I am the lost soul in the city of the machine
    Working, working, working
All I can do is work, work
In the city of the machine
That is what the machine will have me do
That is all they want me to do

I am the lost soul in the city of the machine
I want to run free of the machine’s skyscraper claws
I want to smash the machine, break all the cogs
Free the souls, free them all from this fate
But will they thank me for their freedom
Or will they destroy me in turn?

I am the lost soul in the city of the machine,
I feel that I the only man here to dream
To dream of a life outside the machine
    To dream of freedom
But I know there will be no truth to my dream
Dreams are all I can have
In the city of the machine.
Working...
