  • Earliest Dick adaptation?

When digging out some old Nova copies of New Worlds at the weekend, I found an issue I didn't remember having from July 1962. The front and back cover (and several pages inside) are dedicated to a TV series about to be shown on British TV called Out Of This World. Hosted by Boris Karloff, it comprised a number of plays based on sf stories. One of them, I was quite surprised to find, was Imposter by Philip K Dick and must be the first time any of his stories was adapted for TV or cinema. It'd be interesting to know if this series still exists.
'You know, I can't keep up with you. If I hadn't met you in person, I quite honestly would NOT believe you really existed. I just COULDN'T. You do so MUCH... if half of what goes into your zines is to be believed, you've read more at the age of 17 than I have at the age of 32 - LOTS more'

It looks like all but one show were wiped:

    Oh well :x

Actually, seeing how much from the world of film and TV has been lost to the ages, even in fairly recent times, makes me thankful for the durability of the written word...

Dear Lord, is it 9 years since I originally posted this?

Can't help wondering if the alleged mega-haul of 60s TV that is supposed to include further Doctor Who episodes might have a few of these as well? Terry Nation, incidentally, adapted the Phil Dick story. We can dream I suppose...

Some people seem to think though, that even if they were found, rights issues would prevent them being released...
