  • Slough-feg and Domine

A little off key parcel I stubed my toe on today... In keeping with the book/music Psychic War theme:

    Traveller rpg music:

    http://www.slough-feg.com/music.html

Rock at it's best. 'High Passage Low Passage'.

    Instant classic.

I've had my headphones on half the day. Found it reading the MegaTraveller game forum on Abandonia.

Ok, DL'd the free songs they have on the site and I'm. . . HOOKED! I loved it, its the sort of thing i like; are they new? I hope so, may renew my faith in modern music. . .

High Season II was awesome, Vet' :D

    Edit:
    http://www.bnrmetal.com/groups/lwsf.htm

I found the answer myself, though it took awhile. I wonder why I always like the more obscure rock, i'm as happy as I was when turned on to Domine (only to discover finding their CDs was hard to come by in the States) - I envy you non-States residents :(

Glad you liked it! I've been listening to High/Low Passage all freakin' day!

I finished listening to High Season II for about a half hour.
It's not MM but no mere mortal can.

'You see me now a veteran
      of a thousand psychic wars
my energy is spent at last
      and my armor is destroyed
I have used up all my weapons
and I am helpless and bereved
--wounds are all I'm made of---
Did I hear you say that this is victory?!

Oh, yeah, great stuff. Too bad the CDs are hard to come by, even ebay got nothing, save their new one, "Atavism" :)

Yes, that High Season II song has just the right seafarers lilt.

              HP/LP:

'You heard about me in the Fungia Wars
              psionic menace carrying alien spores
A living legend in the astroid mines
              avoiding tariffs and Imperial fines
One thousand credits is my humble price
whether its nickle iron stony or ice
Only the wayfaring patron will dare
a merchant cruiser, a skyway corsair.'

              VotPW

'You ask me why I'm weary
Why I can't speak to you
You blame me for my silence
Say it's time I changed and grew
But the war's still going on, dear
And there's no end that I know
              And I can't say we're ever
I can't say we're ever gonna be free'

You wanna hear some MM-inspired music, listen to Domine:

                The Black Sword:

This is the tale of ELRIC
                before he was called womanslayer
before the final collapse of MELNIBONE
this is the tale of the two
                Black Swords

                Mighty ELRIC, mightier Sword
                Sorcerer and swordman
                slayer of kin
Lord of the dying race, king of ruins
                Dragon master
                Champion of Doom

                Ymrrir the Dreaming city
                Yrkoon, the hated usurper
                Cymoril the beloved
                all had fallen
to the fury and unholy power
                of the albino prince
                and his terrible Sword

                [chorus]
                Stormbringer, black runesword
                battle thirsty prince
                blood-hungry sword
Stormbringer, sing a song of victory
and as I hold you in my hand
                you drink the souls
                of all my enemies
my enemies, oh drink the souls
                of all my enemies

. . .and just look at these covers:

                http://www.songlyricscollection.com/...e%20lyrics.htm :D

(I hope some day my writing could be immortalized in metal lyrics)

OK. Both groups are cheesy. There is something to like about both groups.

I just heard a bit of Domine and I don't care for it. It's 80s and cheesy (good) but sounds like Iron Maiden (bad in my book).

                        Nice covers though.

                        EDIT:

I haven't heard enough of Feg to form an opinion but I do like those two songs from their web site (not Geneocide though).

 Maybe that's why I like it - I was always a sucker for 80s rock

Yes. I love 80s rock, I just cringe when they go opera.

I was raised on Led Zep, Floyd, Hendrix, and the Doors. Embarisingly ELO to boot. Also - Ozzy, Megadeath, Pantera, Slayer, etc..

I'm sure I'm missing a few, but Iron Maiden and Judas Priest were never my cup of joe.

                            EDIT:

Did I say the Heavy Metal Soundtrack was my first and only album for years?

I didn't know who any of these bands were for quite some time. We certainly didn't have internet back in (quickly googles) *1981*!

I love Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and W.A.S.P. (and ELO, I grew up on that)!

I'm just ol' school I suppose. I always get excited when I hear new bands capture a retro feel, I never cared much more the more chaotic, head banging screaming death metal of today, if I can't understand what you're screaming, why bother. . . Oh, I miss the 80s
