If I had to pick the best depictions of both Elric and Corum it would definetly be the Amano-Kotobukiya sculptures, hands down. Now you know why I am so keen on the idea of an animated film, neither look entirely human and possess the grace that both races were said to have. In a photorealistic animation you could literally bring those 3D renditions to life instead of settling for all-too-human actors . I find that there are some other sculptures with a style that would lend itself well to an Elric film:

Wendy's movie project was very ambitious. Sadly, she began to realise that she didn't have the resources or time to complete it. The existing drawings and so on were published in a book called Law and Chaos a few years ago. Very nice edition. Jim Cawthorn, with whom I worked for so many years and who drew Elric as I roughed out the early stories, is still my favourite artist for Elric but I think my favourite ever rendering of Elric was the model done in Japan based on the Amano original. But I have always very much liked Robert Gould's version, too. Jim's battle scenes between Law and Chaos for Stormbringer remain probably the best ever. I'm not sure that edition is easy to get hold of any more. Jim wasn't satisfied with it himself and it IS patchy, but he'll always be my favourite.

Physically I've always pictured Elric looking halfway between Brom and Amano's renditions of him. While Gould makes Elric look a little too human IMO, some of his costume designs are great. Brom has a good feel for Melnibonean armor on the other hand...

Athenys: geez... the "elves" thing again... ;) good point.

my memory is telling me that Wendy was doing the artwork in college or something, and she became completely obsessed with the illustrations, and rather exhausted. ?? yes, her vision of the stories are not dark like Brom, but I liked the look she gave Moonglum! as always, Robert Gould is my favorite Elric artist.

Perhaps MM thought Pini's style wasn't dark enough (unlike Brom or Amano)for what he had in mind. But still, I think some of Pini's character designs if rendered a little less delicate would have been spot on for Melniboneans. If only they could hire both her and Amano as artistic consultants for the Elric movie. Melniboneans do look for all intents and puposes like elves  ...

Wendy Pini (of ElfQuest) has a graphic novel for Elric, and I believe she began an animated Elric movie, too. i've forgotten what happened, why she didn't finish it, though.

    Animated film is fine.
It's when every one of them looks like cookie cutter anime that I tune out.
I'm venting, the graphic novel section at a local bookstore has been overrun by anime.
I liked it about 10-15 years ago, but the absolute pop culture saturation makes me ill. It's like the Top 40 of art.

HOLY CRAP dude! Advent Children is gonna rock so hard! I just got the English trailer the other day. Being a huge Final Fantasy fan, this is what ive been waiting for for a long time. FF7 in my opinion was one of the best games, so its only fitting that they make a movie sequel to it.

    Thru the Moebius Strip

Another interesting animation - long-awaited 3D CGI feature movie "Thru the Moebius Strip":
    http://www.moebiusstrip.net/
The story was written by famous French comics creator Jean "Moebius" Giraud, author of [broken link]The Airtight Garage of Jerry Cornelius. The movie will be based on his designs.

My web-pal Jean-Pierre told me about 'Immortal'...I also know that Cinemax Animation in Spain is turning out some stuff that looks nice. There are literally tons of 2D/3D animation forums and magazines too. Newtype USA, Cinefex and www.deathfall.com are my personal favorites. Some cool game cinematics as well:

MM should call up Tin House Studios and Production I.G. and ask for a price quote ...As to where you can get them try E-mule or Bittorrent if you can't get the DVD. If you have a specific title in mind you can PM me.

I watched these two films the other day:

    www.wonderfuldays-lefilm.com

    the trailer's under: Bande Annonce

    and this:

I thought the style would lend itself quite well to some of MM's stories. Ralph Bakshi this most definetly is not...
