  • Finding rare books.

I've seen a few links to sites that specialise in rare books and locating them but obviously as soon as I need one I can't find the threads again!
Can anybody point me in the right direction please?

Are you familiar with www.abebooks.co.uk? Reliable, but pricey. Its always a good idea to keep a weather eye on EBay,of course + Jayde Designs (on the front page) for MM's works - again, not the cheapest, perhaps, but dependable with a fantastic range and approved by the man himself.

Thanks, I'll check that site out. I'm an ebay junky so I'm always on there looking for stuff! :D
I'm not actually looking for MM's works (i have the complete Eternal Champion series. :D) does Jade design have other authors? I suppose I can go check myself!

I was a little wary of AbeBooks at first, but picked up some great titles through them for X-Mas. The first order I made turned out to be for a book the seller didn't actually have in stock, so that was a waste of time, but the ones I made after that went very smoothly.

Um... so, basically, I'm just nodding in agreement to what Mikey said.

You could email and ask them. They prefer to send written catalogues - the one I received was just MM - but then that's what I asked for! I'd also recommend the Fantasy Centre http://www.fantasycentre.demon.co.uk/ for out of print books, first editions, etc and small publishers - once again, not the cheapest, but you can rely on a very good chance of finding what you want.

Has anyone ordered any of these Moorcock books that are listed for 53p? They sound a little too good to be true to me.

Check the shipping. Shipping costs at Abebooks are based on books weighing 1 kilo, so you always seem to be paying about آ£3.00 or so regardless of its actual weight. A bookseller that uses Abebooks told me that most sellers just adjust the price of the book accordingly - adding the difference if the shipping charge isn't enough, subtracting it if it's too much.

So yes, it is to good to be true. :)

I hope that made sense! :?

Absolutely, and you make an excellent point! Because they were UK sellers, I hadn't looked at the postage rates... that probably is where they make their money back. No such thing as a free lunch, and so forth.

                Thank you. :)

I'm plugging a friend of mine's site here. But, if there's a book you really want to find, you could well try,
