  • Don't go looking for "Moorcock" on Amazon

Ok: I guess this was inevitable, but as I was on amazon.com looking for a paper-based cheaper version of the first Dorian Hawkmoon quartet ($10 for a short, 40year old ebook?!)... and something rather unpleasant appeared alongside it, presumably as a porn pseudonym.

I will spare you the details (which are as you imagine), and I would post the link, but you can find it yourself if you're interested.

Also, he is down sometimes as "Micheal" Moorcock, so you can bypass the smut but miss some stuff by looking for "Michael Moorcock".

    Oy vay!

Yeah, I noticed that a while ago. There's a section at the bottom of each product page for 'feedback' and an option for 'innapropriate content'. I urge all 3000 members of the Miscellany to complain.

That writer (who goes by Jenni Moorcock) gives away ebooks so they come out first if someone searches for Mike's books and sorts by ascending price. They also pop up in the results for any 'Moorcock' keyword search.

I haven't seen much erotica mixed in with my general search results so I wonder if this is a mistake. You'd think they could tell that a book called "Gang On Prom Night" should be segregated in the 'Erotica' section. I don't think I'm prudish in thinking that only people that are looking for porn should find it.

I was eight or nine when I started reading FSF (Howard and Burroughs, but it could have just as easily been Mike) and it bothers me that some nine year old might stumble across this. I don't know if a nine year old is in any way equpped to contextualize something called 'Breeding Mrs. Howard'. I know hardcore porn is everywhere on the Internet but the fact remains.

        Serves ya right!

I tried searching Moorcock on Amazon, and came up with Mike's works, and just one of the other. I narrowed down the search to books, and all that came up were Mike's.

His name does cause a problem, though. Over on another forum after discussing Mike's works some started joking about his name and I tried to make a serious comment, and the mod decided to have a bit of fun and so gave me the title 'co*** are optional'. It's not something I can change myself, so I'm stuck with it.

You don't count that as abuse?
