Any spoilers or tidbits forthcoming for White Wolf's Son?

Setting for example? Dreamthief's Daughter was set during WW2, Skrayling in pre-historic America, any clues as to where the last book will be set?

First chapter opens at my house in Ingleton, in the Yorkshire Dales, which has become the von Bek house in the book. Narrator is one of Oona's daughters. Various characters from the first book reappear,
including Saint Odhran, the balloonist adventurer, and where you might say Dreamthief's Daughter was a riff on the Piper of Hamlyn, this might be something of a riff on Alice underground. Elric, of course, will be prominent, but neither Elric nor von Bek will be narrating in this final volume. As I have it at the moment, everything will be seen through the eyes of the young woman. Oh, and I think we'll see Gaynor again!

I forgot to add that Oona and Ulric are grandparents at this stage.
The little girl is their grand-daughter. So the time is more or less the present.

I'm also intrigued. Also, since this is the last Elric-featured novel (supposedly), it's quite probably going to be a rather interesting read.

But, depending on the age of the Grand-Daughter, its going to be an interesting look at Elric and the entire issues of the Multiverse and Stormbringer, through of the eyes of someone young.

I hope it is a big, thick volume! I always find myself wanting to read more :!:
It might be interesting to explore if or how Elric has mellowed/changed with age and fatherhood. Perhaps a comparison with his father Sadric, and his life? A history of the black blade(s) including their creation would be great in my opinion. From the creation of the sword, to the influences on people and places before and after Elric weilded it.
A final, cataclysmic showdown between Gaynor and Elric? Some Arioch would be nice. :P

Well, Elric can't change much, outside his various 'dreams', or he wouldn't be the same Elric of Stormbringer. This is the problem I'm
facing, of course, with that particular series. It's why I can't easily
continue it after this story. Logically, however, the adventures of his
son and daughter could be followed, though I've already hinted that when two 'silverskins' (male and female) are born to the royal line of Melnibone real hell breaks out (see Multiverse graphic novel). I hope certain ironies will be dealt with in that final volume, but to develop Elric's character outside the context of the original stories would produce
potential contradictions. However, we'll see how he responds to our
young lady narrator, of course. I doubt if his first impulse will be to drink her soul.... :)

I wonder if there was not a way for Elric to return after losing his soul to the Black Sword. After all it seems to me that the Eternal Champion is eternal and all powerful and not even The Black Sword can hold him for ever.

Perhaps Jhary in an act of sacrifice using a charm of invulnerability can lose his soul to the Black Sword and in so doing perhaps return with Elric from Hell? Sorry I havent read any of the new series of Elric books (yet), not even "Revenge of the rose" :( ...But the journey into the 7th level of hell to bring back Elric's unique soul could be quite an extraordinary journey you ask me...

In the "Quest for Tanelorn", was the Black Sword destroyed or was it free to roam the new Multiverse after the conjunction of the million spheres? I forget. I think I bought that book on holiday in cornwall in 1975!

I've often pointed out that the difference between most fantasy fiction and mythology is that the myths tell us very firmly that there are NO FREE LUNCHES. Essentially, that's also the theme of the Elric stories and, by implication, the other Eternal Champion stories. My fiction wouldn't be true to itself if I started reviving too many dead heroes (Elric and Corum in particular). Even with the Hawkmoon stories I had to be very careful. So there's no chance I'll revive Elric, I'm afraid. When I'm dead, what people do will be their own affair, but it's just possible I'll come back and haunt them if they move too far away from the point of the stories!!

I guess I refuse to accept defeat, always trying to find a way of cheating death and come back fighting.

I agree with your point though a tragedy must be a tragedy and not a soap opera. Reality requires that death makes its kill and if death can always be defeated there would be no risk or drama to the story.
