I'm having a multiversal moment here. I developed the desire to start reading some comics again and stopped by my local comic bistro, Comic Book Ink. I decided to try a couple of the mags that were new in the shop, issue ones. I grabbed #0 of Shrugged, and issue #1 and #2 of Shadowpact, essentially at random. Although a single image of the character is in #1, #2 has two full pages that are attached to this post.

The White Rabbit is a magical sword wielding albino ala Michael Moorcock's Multiverse. A nick by his sword causes his opponents to fall asleep. Not only ripping of Mr. Z, but ripping off the rabbit as Bek's omen.

Hmm, that dialogue is pretty atrocious as well. Clichéd even.

For some reason, the phrase, "Sanitized for your convenience", sprang to mind on first reading.

It's a DC Comics' title?!! Cripes, based on those two pages I assumed it was an indy/small-press effort.

Since the team has Blue Devil in it, I assume it's supposed to be a "comedy" title?

Bah! Why couldn't they bring Ambush Bug back instead.

I haven't sold THAT much! What with Claw's return and various other threads running, I'm really beginning to wonder if DC ought to make me a shareholder, at least! Incidentallyh, I just got the b&ws of Elric 4 -- and have to say that they might try to imitate me and Walter but they'd have a very hard time matching us! Walter's surpassing himself.

Nightmaster fights in the realms of his own mind. I have a hunch White Rabbit was just another attempt to create a character by that name (I think it's round 3, they just won't let the Rev. Mr. Dodgson rest quietly). The sleepy-sword trick is pure Ham Brooks. Thus, they hit the rip-off exacta of Lewis Carroll, Mike Moorcock and Lester Dent.

I'll stick with Planetary, thankya.
