    How goes the fight Michael?

I know you can't reveal much, due to the nature of the legal process (or the nature of the beast if you like )

Does your lawyer think it's looking positive? Hope the info helped. I have all of those sites and their content saved if they "disappear" (I worked as a project assistant to an attourney and "grabbed" sites all the time) Many people try to rush around and pull/delete everything by the time they get to court. Not this time! :P

If you need it, I got it. I'd be happy to burn it on disk and send it your way. I am sure your guy has got it all by now. Tell us the outcome when it is all said and done, will you?

    Good luck!!
When they had advanced together to meet on common
ground, then there was the clash of shields, of spears
and the fury of men cased in bronze; bossed shields met
each other and the din rose loud. Then there were
mingled the groaning and the crowing of men killed and
killing, and the ground ran with blood.

Don't think they sell them though. It looked like some people were posting examples of what they created. Kinda like a site for artists to show off their wares. I might be wrong though. It happens often!

Actually, bootlegged garage kits - also known as "recasts" - are the plague of the resin kit industry, as it's easier to buy a legit copy of a kit and cast inferior duplicates (which are sold cheap, undercutting the manufacturers of the original, legal kits) than it is to ASSEMBLE most resin kits. Often even the packaging is cloned down at the local Kinkos as well.

I found this one in "Completed Items" on eBay:
        http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=4249

The seller even has the gigantic, cyclopean, unspeakable nerve to SAY OUTRIGHT it's a recast in the text. Just a peep at the pix of the parts makes it clear it's a pretty LOUSY recast, at that.

Too late to do much about this particular sale, but it may still be possible to go after the bootleggers. One more report for Law, anyway...

Sorry, Bob. Didn't scroll back far enough to see your letter originally. Yes, the Corum's are 'official' and done, as I recall, after an Amano
original. I think the firm is called Hobby Japan (from memory) and we
have a perfectly good relationships. They did start off on the wrong foot by passing of an Elric as 'Albinone', but we came to an agreement and now all the work they do is endorsed by me, especially since they do such good work. They are expensive, though, as I recall. Their Elric, as I've said elsewhere, is absolutely stunning -- as pure a version of the
Amano original as you could hope to get. All it needs to make it an even greater work of art was if it were made of ivory. But it comes very
          close!

I have the "Amano" Elric kit. It's stored away somewhere in what I call "my stuff" room. It comes in a heavy brown container with nice printing and everything. The components look and feel pretty nice - kind of porcelain-like. The detail is quite impressive. That said, I am no expert on the "garage-kit" part of the art world. I am more knowlegeable about traditional stuff like marble, alabaster, plaster, etc. I don't know diddly about resin, although I probably should. I get the idea that's it's quite fragile.

I once built a really cool Vampirella figure (standing holding a bat like the old door poster) - a little putty, a little wire, a little primer and you are most of the way there. Traditional sculpting files and scrapers help. A little sandpaper or even a diamond nail file can help with details - smoothing joins and eliminating teeny bits of flashing. Most models look great even all off-white. A japanese hobby shop will get one the needed paints for detailing in the figure in a more fully modelled way. I use Heroes Club (?) on Clement street of San Francisco. It is also the case that swing by there for the cheap dim sum eats.

Anyway, I didn't get the idea that model was cheap looking, recast or otherwise - it looks great. Quite impressive. And it's rather large too.

              Mr. Moorcock,
I have found some information concerning the copyright infringement issue which I hope will prove useful. There is a heavy metal band named Stormbringer, some enterprise named Stormbringer, info on the Elric bust and a recaster of the Elric Kotobukiya statue. I will now try to post these links if I can see through the smoke coming out of my ears.

              2.enterprise- [http://www.team-stormbringer.com/]
              3.bust- [http://www.entertainmentearth.com/hi...p?theme=Elric]
              4. Recast kit- [http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=4249]
I also found an action figure the other day and am trying to relocate it.
              Be well.

What? I can't name my band the Lords of Entropy
                or Xiombarg?
                Nooooooooo!

Perhaps the first criterion for blowing the whistle
                should be...
                1. Is the "entity" and product turning a profit?
I've never even heard a song from a band named
Stormbringer, so they can't be making that much money
can they? Besides Strombringer IS a cool name for
                a band.

I was in a band called Estabrook's Hurt, words coming from Clive
Barker's "Imajica." He said, "That's a cool name for a band!" when
we saw him at a book signing.

I would have said, "Poopoo on you!" If he had said,
"Wot?! How dare you! You change the nayme immediately!"

An Elric or E.C. action figure? Wow. I'd like to see that. The movie script isn't even finalized yet! If they're of the same quality as the latest Star Wars toys, FIND THESE PEOPLE AND KILL THEM IMMEDIATELY!

By the way, welcome on board, Bluekachina! Always nice to see
                new members!
Don't mind me, I'm a raving lunatic-- just read my posts. :)

It can't be just that. What if Michael were Jewish, and the band was dedicated to a skinhead philosphy? Or Michael was a teetotaler and the band was a stoner band? Shouldn't he have the opportunity to control the image of his works? What if an entity wanted to use Cymoril in a pornographic context (probably a better example, given Mike's published comments on pornography)?

Not an argument, just a thought.

                    Thanks for the welcome, Jerico.
I really do not want to see a small band squashed by soulless studio lawyers. . I know only that they are selling merch there and I thought Michael should know.
It is his call, who knows, maybe if they are brilliant he will give them the thumbs up! When it comes to copyright infringement I am not entirely sure the determining factor is "How much money are they making?" I am not an expert on copyright law, however, it seems to me there is a line of infringement here and if everyone begins to use his intellectuall properties to sell everything from laxatives to wonder bras it will become increasingly difficult for Mr. M. to enforce his copyrights. Can you imagine?!? "Stormbringer, the laxitive that comes on like a tsunami and leaves you like a desert"
Anyway, I am just trying to help and thank you for your response.

                      Hey Bill,
Well put and I really think this is an issue of gradients which can only be determined by the copyright owner. Michael OWNS these characters and stories and has the right to control the uses of his imagination and hard work. So this is kind of a moot question since he will make the decision
"But I'm tryin', Ringo, I'm trying real hard to be the shepard."

Thanks... I found the Zakas site to be somewhat confusing..

I'm also changing internet provider for a faster and reliable connection.
For both me and other users.. So the site won't be up until a few months.
It takes some time to get the connection.

BTW. What song are influenced by MM in Zakas?

That"s cool, I just thought MM should know. I think it is great for a band to write a song about Elric or Stormbringer but I am sure you can see there is a big difference between Deep Purple, for instance writing a song about Stormbringer and naming themselves Stormbringer or Elric. At any rate I think it is cool for MM to know.
