Older Elric comics

I have been collecting the original Elric comics for years. I have most of them from P.C and First Comics, up through Bane of the Black sword. I have never been able to find any of the pc or first comics of Stormbringer though. I have looked on e-bay, as well as other sites, and can't find them. I love the artwork in these comics, and would really like to complete my collection. I also have many comics of Corum, and Hawkmoon. I would like to complete these also, so if anyone has any info as to where these can be found, I would greatly appreciate any info.

They never did Stormbringer. Mike brought the series to a halt as he felt the artwork was getting worse and worse (I agree!)

Talented writer-artist P. Craig Russell did adapt Stormbringer (very well) for Topps comics a few years later. IIRC it was a seven part series.

Issue Zero of this series was Russell's adpatation of Neil Gaiman's One Life Furnished In Early Moorcock. A great series all told.

Maybe you have that already? There was a book collection and copies turn up on eBay often enough.

I have the comics but strangely never bought the book (normally I would). Maybe I'd better get looking on eBay too...

That explains a lot. I have all of the Topps Stormbringer issues, but was dissappointed with the artwork in them. Too many instances of the characters looking too cartoonish, with big round "little orphan annie" eyes, and nowhere near as much detail in the backgrounds. Just MHO. I also have One Life. That is a great story.
When I started collecting them, I found Corum comics for The Chronicles of Corum (The Bull and the Spear, Oak and Ram, Sword and Stallion.)Saddly, I didnt purchase them at the time, and when I went back for them, they were gone. Ya Snooze, ya loose. I guess. I will just have to continue my search for those.

As much as I like PCR's Stormbringer I personally find that he deviated too much from Mike's physical descriptions of the characters for it to be truly 'definitive'.

There have been quite a number of sets of Mike's old Pacific and First comics turning up on eBay for the past couple of months. Don't know whether it's a trend or anything, but it's probably worth keeping your eye out for.

Is this a thick one that tells the entire story? I have a few of the regular comics, but they are the thin issues that continue in the series.

I used to have one of the thick ones, but I forget who made it.

Thanks Lemec. I will have to look into getting that one. I have Sailor on the Seas of Fate graphic novel, and The Jewel in the Skull. Both are excellent. I did find the complete series of the Bull and the Spear online yesterday. Sadly, I have to wait until after Christmas before I buy anything like these for myself. Hopefully, they will still be available.

Much as I admired Craig's earlier Elrics, I, too, was disappointed by his Stormbringer. I think the large size Savoy Cawthorn Stormbringer is more faithful to the spirit of the book.

Mignola's Corum for First were in my opinion the best of all the versions they did of the various characters. Cawthorn's Elric remains the definitive one for me, as does his Hawkmoon. Could be because we were such close friends and he worked on illustrating stories as I wrote them, long before they were published.

I agree. When I was developing the Stormbringer stategy game for my friends on my website I flipped through the images on PCR's comics for inspirational character images but they did not remind me of the characters I imagined when reading the books. My memories were more eldritch and I particularly found the japanese resin model closer.

Based faithfully on Amano's pictures of Elric for the Japanese editions. I always point to that model as probably the best depiction of Elric after
Jim Cawthorn's.
