    I didn't hear, because of this being a bad week for us in various ways. A good age, as they say. He'll be much missed. I was watching one of his post-war films called, as I recall, The Long Afternoon, just the other day.
    Pity his daughter Hayley didn't inherit his versatility.

    He played an awesome, compelling Field Marshall Douglas Haig in Attenborough's "Oh! What a Lovely War!".
    Great actor, saw to few films with him, really, as we are more swamped wirth US movies than blessed with British or European cinema. Good age 97 though, nothing to complain about, I'd say.
