    No. In short.
But I did read people who preceded Campbell -- White Goddess by Graves, Golden Bough by Frazer.

Joseph Campbell and The Eternal Champion

In Joseph Campbell's book 'The Hero of a Thousand Faces', he comes up with the theory that all Human myths and mythic charecters fall into the same set of Archetypes which more and less make them variations of the same myth.

Did this theory have any kind of effect on your thinking of The Eternal Champion with the various Eternal Champion archetypes such as the Champion, the Companion, the Love, the Black Sword, the balance appearing in many of the books concerning the many Incarnations of the Champion.
