  • Greetings

    Hello to everyone

This is my firts messagge in your forum

I'm Italian, I'm not very used in english writing and I'm also new to forum experiences so excuse me if you find sone nonsenses in my sentences...

I have read most of the Elric Saga in Italian and recently I decided to start buying the english versions of those (my Italian copy was stolen along with my baggage some monts ago)

Which is best order to read those books; there exist a plan to publish new omnibus collections or similar?

    Thanks for your time

Hi Emrys, welcome to the site. :)

The 'best' order is just to jump in with whatever books you have to hand. The nature of Moorcock's Multiverse is that there is no beginning and no end - in fact, Mike says that everything happens all at the same time.

However, if you'd like to look at a couple of 'suggested' reading orders you can try these threads:

      Proposed Moorcock Reading order
The Eternal Champion: A Guide for Newbies

But they are only 'suggested' orders and by no means 'official'.

The core EC books were published about 10 years ago in two omnibus series (one in the UK by Millennium/Orion, the other in the US by White Wolf). Both of these were 'official' editions revised by Mike to give readers a structure to approaching his fantasy/SF novels. Some of the UK omnibuses may still be available, but the US ones are all OOP afaik.

Hope that helps. Ask if there's anything else.
_"For an eternity Allard was alone in an icy limbo where all the colours were bright and sharp and comfortless.
_For another eternity Allard swam through seas without end, all green and cool and deep, where distorted creatures drifted, sometimes attacking him.
_And then, at last, he had reached the real world – the world he had created, where he was God and could create or destroy whatever he wished.
_He was supremely powerful. He told planets to destroy themselves, and they did. He created suns. Beautiful women flocked to be his. Of all men, he was the mightiest. Of all gods, he was the greatest."

          Thanks to everyone,

I haven't replied before because I was on holiday.

I will try to find some version of all the books in english until I'll complete my collection in the next months.

Now I'm trying to complete my collection of Moorcook Inspired graphic novels findind that it is possible to buy online very nice works (like those from "first publishing")

Is that a common name or you are a big fan of Stephen Lawhead?

I took that name from his books that I have read 10 years ago...

Me too, It was one of the first fantasy author (maybe its historical romance, whatever) I have read.
It's a shame that in italy is 4 book saga Pendragon was lacking of the last book which I had never read.
Maybe have you read it? They told me it was a sort of prequel is it?

Read all five of his Pendragon cycle, you're talking about "Grail"? If my memory serves me right it was a prequel. Know what this means? I must reread them.
Have you tried an inter-library exchange or do they even do that in Italy?
I still have to read his Avalon ,Byzantium and the Song of Albion series.

I think I am going to order the Albion books right now shhhhhh don't tell my husband. I am not spending money no no no I would never do that uh uh

By the way you're lucky, Morgan sang "Bella Ciao" instead of " O Sole Mio" as usual
