Given the successes of live appearences this year: signings and awards both; other discussed moorcock-related conferences (where mike was only there in spirit!) and new material releases (Black Petals, Del Rey's new line, snippets of Mike's current projects etc) - perhaps there is enough continuing activity in this "happening things" field to warrent a new sub-forum in the Q&A: "Moorcock Related Events"? With a better name obviously.

Well, we have the News Page.
___________________________________________________________________________
_"He drifted through infinite jungles. Brightly coloured jungles in which vast, grotesque birds flew, obscuring the sky. The birds turned on him, their huge beaks wide. Lions prowled, their bodies green and their manes orange, turning into blindingly bright, abstract patterns that were no less terrifying.
_For an eternity Allard was alone in an icy limbo where all the colours were bright and sharp and comfortless.
_For another eternity Allard swam through seas without end, all green and cool and deep, where distorted creatures drifted, sometimes attacking him.
_And then, at last, he had reached the real world – the world he had created, where he was God and could create or destroy whatever he wished.
_He was supremely powerful. He told planets to destroy themselves, and they did. He created suns. Beautiful women flocked to be his. Of all men, he was the mightiest. Of all gods, he was the greatest."

We usually do at least one signing/reading in the Bay Area. Lorelei, but it's been a few years since we've done anything in Southern California. We weren't even able to get to the west at all this year.

Oh my Gosh! That's not too far from me! It looks like I may actually have to go to my first convention ever. Though I avoid those kinds of things, it would be worth it to say hello to M.M.

Strength of Will or Laziness Rewarded?
I've been an avid fan of Mike since age twelve, but I'm extremely hesitant and lazy when it comes to making cross-country journeys to meet my fave writers/musicians/etc. I reside in McComb, Mississippi - the birthplace of the late Bo Diddley. One of the great questions of life throughout my late teens and twenties was "How can I get Mike Moorcock to visit Mississippi," along with "Why the hell would he want to visit MS," and "How can I escape MS." I've come to appreciate my surroundings more as I have gotten older, and strangely enough, Mike has made connections to the area. I believe his wife is from the state, but I could be wrong. That is probably the biggest connection, yet the Biloxi Fault arguably could be the reason behind everything.
I'm normally not one to advertise for comic conventions, but this is obviously a big deal for anyone who visits this website. The drive to Biloxi is a little over two hours from where I live, and the Coliseum is really quite small. It's big enough for sporting events, but Coast Con has traditionally been a small affair at best. The upshot of being in the backwater of the cosmos is the fans get to totally invade the guest's comfort space. You get to not only meet Mike, but also wipe the humidity inspired sweat from his brow and (for a few dollars more) rub his remaining toes. People, it doesn't get any better than this. I guess good things finally do come those who wait, or if you wait around long enough anything can happen.

California, nothing. He at least has been there and gets there every-so-often. He needs to come see the beauty of the upper mid-west. Specifically, Minnesota. Early October is probably the best time: most of the mosquitos are gone, the leaves are on fire (metaphorically, of course--at least, so we hope), and the weather is mild.
Failing that, I guess I'll just have to follow through on the deal I made with my wife: she sent me down to meet the Moorcocks in TX and in exchange I have to take her to meet them in France. Paris or St. Malo, either one. I like Paris well enough and I know she'll love it. But I haven't yet found a town I like as much as St. Malo (I was there for a few days in '98), so I'd happily head up there!

OOOH just rub it in Ever King! I never get to travel. I work for people when they travel so I HEAR all about it! The last time I was in Texas, I think I was maybe 8 years old. France, Paris, that's a pipe dream for me. (sigh)

So...
Biloxi, huh?
Who's fault, Biloxi?
(You were all thinking it, every single one of you.)

I'm not sure they'll have time to bring the Terminal Cafe down from Meridian, but you never know. We'' work out a way of identifying ourselves as Miscellany people and maybe have a meal together!

The only thing that would make this any more of an Elric celebration would be if they named Rakhir the Red Archer as toastmaster.
