Default Mornington Crescent Rnd 4: The Humph Memorial Tourny

Black armbands are in order I think for this round. Thongor can substitute a black loin cloth if armbands aren't de rigueur for barbarian chic.

In commemoration of Humph, we'll also be using Stovalds 1921 editon (the year of his birth). Watch out for those typos on page 328(!).

Okay, a nice gentle opening to get us started, but I hope we'll see a fast and furious game in the true spirit of MC by the end.

_"He drifted through infinite jungles. Brightly coloured jungles in which vast, grotesque birds flew, obscuring the sky. The birds turned on him, their huge beaks wide. Lions prowled, their bodies green and their manes orange, turning into blindingly bright, abstract patterns that were no less terrifying.
_For an eternity Allard was alone in an icy limbo where all the colours were bright and sharp and comfortless.
_For another eternity Allard swam through seas without end, all green and cool and deep, where distorted creatures drifted, sometimes attacking him.
_And then, at last, he had reached the real world – the world he had created, where he was God and could create or destroy whatever he wished.
_He was supremely powerful. He told planets to destroy themselves, and they did. He created suns. Beautiful women flocked to be his. Of all men, he was the mightiest. Of all gods, he was the greatest."

That nasty rumor about the page 7 "coffee stains" being on every copy is actually true. I took a look at Nathaniel's copy, and he had the SAME STAIN in the same place as on my edition. The multiple ambiguities are therefore deliberate! Check your own copy: you'll see what I mean.

Reading it as "bilateral shunt" (3rd line)...

Caledonian Road in honor of Willy R, for obvious reasons.

That was a bilateral SHUNT?

Oh...

I thought that was dating advice. Okay. Now that move makes so much more sense. And explains why my date walked out on me at prom. (and do I feel embarrassed. )

Right...

Ummm, Trafalgar Square, then.

LOL!

Well, as you see it LOOKS like shunt. Definitely SH and three letters ... S ... H ... something something something

I naturally thought "shunt". "Shift" "Shaft" (is that even a move?) "Short"...?

Who's going to play Mr Littleton for us on this one, given that each of our copies of Stovald is equally (un)helpful?

I would Warren Street to block (but it's Sunday).

So a parallel to Ladbrook Grove. Chewing gum move, I know.

Moscow or Gants Hill? This is a game of Mornington Crescent isn't?

I am a sucker for the big obvious play, but someone has to be, haven't they?
