The Elric Movie ◦ Speculation & Wish Lists Michael Moorcock's iconic Elric of Melniboné has been under (potential) development as a movie trilogy for many years now. This forum is dedicated to any news, speculations and discussions including fan-made actor mockups and/or casting suggestions relevant to a possible movie. Please note however that Mike rarely frequents this forum and questions regarding production of the film should be made in the Q&A forum.

One thing having it a full animated film would be is seamlessness. It would not jar like some like Beowolf. All be on the same plane you could say. Anime and flat animation has more charm I think than cgi animation sometimes. But a live film would be cool also. Maybe a hybrid style like Code Lyoko and Dinosaur King. They have some cgi parts and some flat animation.

I think I may have turned my opinion around 180 degrees on this. I've been watching anime lately. A LOT of anime. Now I would have to do some thinking about Elric. However, going on a bit of a tangent in this resurrected thread, recently I've watched Code Geass (currently watching R2, the second series). Not only does Lelouch Lamperouge seem like EC material, the very story itself could almost be a retelling of Hawkmoon, with Britannia obviously being analogous to Granbretan. Though I must admit that the Knightmare Frames (Mecha) have a certain charm about them over the Ornithopers. And somehow, Code Geass manages to be more tragic than Hawkmoon. So yeah, the right animation company could probably do justice to MMs material given the chance.

I think either anime or live action would serve as appropriate canvases for Elric. I haven't been impressed with the CGI films that I have seen so far, Beowulf included. If I had a choice, I would love to see a live action CGI blend.
