Elric Comic from Glenat
On the Bleeding Cool site the other day, I saw that the French comic publisher Glenat is publishing an Elric book in English:
Quote:
“ELRIC: THE RUBY THRONE” VOL. 1 – 64 Pages – 9 x 12 in. – May 2013
Written by Julien Blondel, art by Didier Poli & Robin Recht, with this proviso;
“Epic, gothic, immoderate, enthralling, this new 100% French adaptation, sumptuously put into images by Didier Poli & Robin Recht, has received the enthusiastic approval of Michael Moorcock himself and has been already sold to Anglo-Saxon countries even before its publication in the Hexagon! (aka France)”
One can only speculate about the Anglo-Saxon publisher that has bought
the rights…

Does anybody know when the English translation will be available? I couldn't tell if "May 2013" referred only to the French edition. The art looks fantastic.

Sorry, that's a question best addressed to Mike and/or his agent ( possibly John Davey might have some knowledge as well). I'm afraid we're not privy to such information.
I agree though, this adaptation of Elric of Melniboné does look very tasty indeed.

I have to say this is the best interpretation EVER. It's a stunning BD. I've no idea when the English edition will be available but with a working knowledge of the story, you should do fine. There are some tweeks to the original story which in my view are an improvement.

Have to say I'm knocked out by the pages I've seen so far.
It's evident that the story has been tweaked here and there.
Looking at Dr Jest for example, he is a more sorcerous figure than the scalpel-wielder of the original book; and why not indeed?
It's a turning multiverse.
Glad to hear you like the changes Mike.
Massively looking forward to seeing the published object!

To say the book looks good is a massive understatement.
Do the French take this stuff seriously or what?

Wow! That is absolutely gorgeous!
I certainly hope my French remains good enough to make sense of it...I don't think I'll be able to sit back waiting for an English edition to come out. If anything this will be a good vehicle for me to practice my French again after 15 years of neglect.
