A few web requests at the expense of progress.

Whether Democrat or Republican, liberal or conservative, no member of our government want their non-transparent doings brought to light. A soldier of Manning's rank could never gain access to truly dangerous information - dangerous to Democracy or spies or whatever. Politicians regardless of orientation cannot tolerate exposure of their double-dealing at best and brutality at worst.

I'll write up my experiment later Berry: I have an idea for sliming our registration bandwidth, and I think code that might possibly work, but vB doesn't provide much of a place to try it out. I rather rashly assumed it would (attempt to) compile the code before uploading it - silly me! And doing so on a bit of code called by every single page in the entire multiverse was, as a starting point, a rather bad choice as it turns out!
It's a digital world now alas David...

One idea that comes to mind is to rename register.php, and go through all the templates and correct the name.
Second idea is to put an http server authentication piece in front of that page, instructing users to use a password that is printed in the instructions. I think that'll be very easy and really bork the bots. I like this idea, because a failed log in will never touch the database.
Maybe we can combine solutions. Can't wait to read what's on your mind.

Ah! To hell with dull admin chat not being by email! You can all suffer!
My first thought was to stop the RHS menu items (quite a lot of tables) being included on any registration page. My biggest probem there was that Drupal didn't seem to want to understand a straightforword path to fora/register (and many variants thereof), so I tried (and failed) with some php instead.
Currently, I've implemented the change using more wildcards than I'd like.
I hope everone is having fun! software eh? Keeps the heart beating fast.
Well it does when the entire site goes down!
